Chinese Medicine
Chinese medicine is considered as one of the traditional and alternative medicines in most part of the world. It is believed to be as the traditional medicinal system dating back to 3rd century yet has continually developed to suit the changing clinical conditions in the present world. The process involved in Chinese medicine evolved gradually in match with the western medicine over the years. The process includes various Chinese diagnostic techniques and treatment with the help of herbals and other methods like massaging and acupuncture.
Diagnostic Techniques:
The traditional Chinese medicine system implies the overall observation of the human body as the basic principle for the diagnostic techniques rather than examining in the micro level as done by the western medicinal system. This simple diagnostic technique includes observing of the body with naked eye, hearing, asking about the background of the patient and simply touching the patient arm to feel the pulse. This pulse reading is the prominent technique of this medicine which is now used in almost all the medicinal system existing in the world. These pulses can be observed in six different position of the human body. Other technique includes observation of the patient odor, tongue, face and body temperature.
Treatments: Chinese medicine treatment includes herbal treatment, acupuncture, food therapy and other physical exercise like martial arts. Herbal medicine is based on the concept of Yin and Yang. The main strategy used in this herbal medicine is the observation of any sign of imbalance in the patient body. Herbal medicine is considered as the far more balanced one than other medicines and it causes less or no side-effects. The combination of herbals in appropriate proportion increases the efficacy of the treatment and also provides safety. Herbal medicine corrects the imbalance of the body rather than correcting the symptoms alone. Treatment with herbs considers Four Natures namely cold, cool, warm and hot and the Five Tastes pungent, sweet, sour, bitter and salty. There are about some fifty fundamental herbs that are provided in different combination according to the disease.
Acupuncture is another technique used in the Chinese medicine to relieve the pain in the body by inserting needles in certain points on the body. The process involves stimulation of the specific anatomical points in the body for therapeutic purposes. It is often used with other Chinese treatments to increase their prime benefits. It is also used as the pain controller once the medical treatments are performed. Acupuncture uses channels like meridians for energy traveling through the body surfaces. Main purpose of the Acupuncture is to clear any obstruction in meridians which may lead to dysfunction of the corresponding part which will ultimately lead to death. Modern science explains that the Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system to release neuroproteins and other neuro-information packets in the corresponding region.
Cupping is another technique used in the Chinese medicine for certain health conditions. It is a treatment in which evacuated cups are used over the skin surface with pressure to draw blood toward or through the surface.
